My Ladder Saved My Life
I guess it’s been just over 3 years since I bought my Little Giant Ladder. I saw the commercials on TV and heard people talking about how good they were, but I hadn’t been able to convince my wife to let me get one. I had a 6’ wooden step-ladder and it would have to do.
Well, I explained to her that I could do SO much more around the house if I had one because it is so versatile. I ordered the information package with the DVD, and showed her just what it was capable of. She said “Okay.”
I called that day to order my ladder. I ordered the 26’ - 1A ladder. I wanted something “beefy” because I’m a kind of a large fella. My order came with one work platform and I ordered an extra. I later went back and ordered a leg leveler and then later got the wheels for it.
Anyway, I was so excited when it came in, I looked all around my house for different uses. The first project, for my wife, was to go through the house and clean ALL the ceiling fans and lights. (Got to keep her happy!) I have vaulted ceilings and it was a breeze with the extendable “A” frame setting and much more comfortable for extended use with the work platform.
Some of the other projects include, but not limited to, painting my house and hanging Christmas lights. I have three gables on my house and it is simple to get to these heights with my ladder. I also have a row of hedges across the front of my house that I needed the stair position for to get in behind the bushes and hang my lights.
I am also a Trustee for my Church. I assist in some of the maintenance inside and around the church. We have 18’ vaulted ceilings in the auditorium and I needed to change the bulbs in some of the light fixtures. I used the “A”- frame position, set it in some of the seats, the rubber “feet” on the ends of the ladder kept it from marring any of the wood finishing or the fabric in the seats, and I was able to reach the fixtures with no problem.
I also was tasked with installing track lighting above the choir loft. A regular step-ladder just won’t get there. My ladder made the project MUCH easier. I used the work platforms, one for standing and the other at the top for holding my tools. The non-slip holes are just the right size for sticking in screwdrivers.
Now, for the most recent task: Our Pastor had designated a Saturday work day for the men to come and remove 4 trees that had died in front of the Church. These were large trees. Well, trying to look ahead at the amount of work that would be involved for a one-day workday, I decided to go in advance to begin just topping some of the trees. To make a long story short, one of the trees was just being stubborn. It was already leaning to begin with, so, in vain, I tried to cut a little and then move out of the way before it fell. Well, it moved faster than I did. It fell toward me and hit my ladder, driving it into the ground up to the first rung. The tree bent the two rungs above that and twisted the whole section. I didn’t say, but this tree had a trunk that was about 18” across. The good news is that the ladder didn’t give way. It held up and kept the tree from hitting me or collapsing beneath me. My ladder saved my life. I LOVE THIS LADDER!! It’s the best money I ever spent on a ladder and the last money I’ll ever spend on a ladder. (with the exception of accidents like this!)
I called the customer service department for Little Giant Ladders and spoke to Aimee Stutz. I gave her my information and with the modular design, was able to order a replacement flared section for my ladder. That’s all that was damaged. The rest of my ladder was still in good working order.
Thank you VERY MUCH to Little Giant Ladder Systems for providing a quality products that CAN and DOES stand up to the abuse that customers can dish out on them!! I have recommended and will continue to recommend this ladder system to everyone needing a ladder.
