When you own a company, quality equipment can be hard to justify, but so many times accidents can be prevented if the right equipment had been available.
Just recently, I found yet another article about an employee injured on the job because his ladder was wore out. The ladder’s feet were worn, making them useless, so when the man descended the ladder to take a break, the ladder slid, causing the man to fall and hurt his foot. He got a fracture and a dislocated ankle, requiring numerous surgeries and leave from work.
What can we learn from this story? It, like many others, shows the importance of having quality equipment and knowing how to use it. Always check equipment and make sure it’s in good condition. For example, the ladder mentioned in the article did not have good feet, causing the ladder to slip.
Take some time to check your equipment this week and invest in new equipment if necessary.
