Description

SumoStance

Working at a significant height can be nerve-wracking, but the Little Giant® SumoStance® ladder eliminates those concerns and makes using an extension ladder easy. Designed for stability and its light weight, the SumoStance will easily become your new go-to ladder for every task.

Wide-Flared Leg Levelers

The SumoStance utilizes wide-flared leg levelers to increase the stability of your ladder. The wide legs nearly double the ladder’s width, giving your ladder added side-tip stability. Work on any terrain, adjusting the ladder’s legs as needed, so you can confidently tackle any project.

Lightweight Non-Conductive Fiberglass

Most extension ladders are heavy and difficult to carry, but the SumoStance uses lightweight, non-conductive fiberglass to help you reach the highest places with ease.

Bubble Levels

Little-Known Fact: having your ladder level off by just 1 inch at the bottom causes a 9-inch lean at the top of a 19-foot ladder. If safety is the goal, and it should be, the bubble levels on the SumoStance are a useful tool to ensure that your ladder is level before climbing.

Other Benefits

The benefits of this ladder are clear. In addition to the benefits listed above, the SumoStance increases safety with its patent-pending Hi-Viz Green color. This color of fiberglass is easy to see, which helps prevent accidents associated with walking or driving into a ladder that is in-use.

Comfortable Wide Rungs

Do you experience foot fatigue while standing on a ladder? If you find yourself constantly shifting your weight to rest your feet while at the top of the ladder, you are going to love the comfort that our wide ladder rungs provide.

The SumoStance complies with all OSHA, ANSI A14 strength and testing standards. Rung/step spacing complies to OSHA and Int’l standards*. The ANSI IA ladders are rated to hold 300 lbs. on the 16’, 20’, 24’, 28’, 32’, 36’ and 40’ models. Our ANSI IAA ladders are rated to hold 375 lbs. on 16’, 20’, 24’, 28’ and 32’ models.

    Best extension ladder

This has, unequivocally, been THE best ext ladder. In the residential industry for 30+ years I really have not seen its equal. Rigid, relatively lightweight and having the ability to adapt to many surface conditions, I won't choose any other ladder for safety and reliability. However, you guys really need to get your game on. Ladder pads. Because of the unique dimensions of the sumustance rails, specially sized pads are required. If we're leaving ladder marks during renovations, it negates the whole purpose. Please address this ASAP. A company of your strength and prowess should have all ready included these upon the release of this product. Thank you.

I own a solar cleaning company and I'm constantly using ladders of various sizes. I recently upgraded my standard 28 ft ladder to a SumoStance 32. I've considered the sumostance over the Werner Glidesafe a no brainer. Don't get me wrong but both ladders are good quality. What sold me over the Werner and buying the sumostance was the unique wide stance. I've been up high ladders and let me tell you, it gets scary the higher you go. What makes it more scary is the balance, unless you have good and wide balance like the sumostance, rest assure you feel more confidence and secure when you reach that height. That feeling of security and safety was elevated when I purchased my sumostance and I knew the reason why it was important deciding over the other brand. I love the wide legs and leveler to know if you are at the right angle before you get up the ladder. The width of the legs are the selling point over all. Raising the ladder was surprisingly easy as well. Trust me I feel so much better every time I go up the ladder, you feel more confident the width is what make a difference. I'm not getting paid by Littlegiant leaving this review. I'm going out of my way to tell you the main reason I chose this unique ladder and I'm very happy my safety is first and every dollar was spent knowing I chose the right ladder for this reason.

I have been up on the ladder fully extended several times, and it feels stable. The feet have cleats for dirt or grass. The rope extends the ladder easily.

I am a commercial roofer. We use this ladder for all roofs that require a ladder that is over 12' long. The stability of this ladder is better than words can explain. The ability to lower either leg in 1/8" increments makes it very easy to straighten the ladder up on virtually any surface. On jobs that already have ladders we use their ladder to access the roof--and I absolutely hate climbing a standard ladder. In fact, I prefer using the SumoStance to a conventional ladder that is tied off at the top unless it is tied off from both the right and left directions. This ladder was the best purchase I ever made. By the way, to extend the outrigger legs literally takes less than 5 seconds (and they close even faster).

There are only two negative things about this ladder:

    1) It is much more expensive than an inexpensive aluminum ladder and

    2) It is lighter than the extra cheap aluminum ladder.

The safety of this ladder must be experienced to understand. Also, being fiberglass, it being non-conductive is very important to me. I personally know of a roofer using an aluminum ladder that was killed instantly when his ladder slid sideways and hit a hot electrical wire on a roof. I prefer fiberglass over aluminum for this reason.

FAQs
What size ladder do I need?

Size refers to the ANSI definition of length. ANSI states that the size is defined by the combined length of all rail sections, with a tolerance of +/-3” on each section. Note, this does not take into account any overlap between sliding sections like those on an extension or multi-purpose ladder. This can cause a disparity in the size of the ladder versus the actual height. To determine which ladder you need, Little Giant recommends you reference maximum reach height instead of size.

What is duty rating?

The terminology for ladder duty ratings, grades, and types can sometimes be confusing. The ladder's duty rating is the maximum safe load capacity of that ladder according to ANSI standardsThere are 3 types of ratings that Little Giant offers:

Type I - Made to handle everyday projects. Has a load capacity of 250 lbs.

Type IA- Designed with durability and regular use in mind. Has a load capacity of 300 lbs.

Type IAA- Built for professional performance and rugged use. Has a load capacity of 375 lbs.

What is the difference between SIZE and MAXIMUM REACH HEIGHT?

Ladder specifications can be confusing due to safety regulation requirements. According to ANSI (American National Standards Institute), the ladder size is defined as the total length of each section and does not account for overlap on extension ladders. As a result, the overlapping sections reduce the total length of the ladder. When purchasing any ladder customers should pay particular attention to the maximum reach to ensure the correct product for the job.
