Maintaining three points of contact means to always have three parts of your body touching your ladder. So, have one hand and two feet or two hands and one foot, whilw standing on or ascending or descending the ladder.
Here are some helpful tips for maintaining three points of contact:
-Keep your hands free while on the ladder
-Use a tool belt if you need tools
-Face the ladder when climbing
-Keep your body between the rails, following the “belt buckle rule”
-Keep one hand on the ladder while you work with the other hand
