On any given job site, you are likely to be faced with a diverse landscape that you have to adapt to. The ComboSXE™ from Little Giant® is designed to help you reach your work no matter where the job may take you.
This combination ladder adjusts to stepladder and extension configurations with ease. Plus, the front, wide-flared side of the ladder has a telescoping feature, so you can also set up the ladder on staircases, getting closer to your work without sacrificing safety.
When set up in stepladder mode, the ComboSXE is certified as a two-person ladder, holding up to 375 lbs. on both sides.
This ladder has a wide-flared base and a narrow, functional extension, so you can reach tight attic access ports while in extension ladder configuration. A safety handrail at the top of the stepladder configuration minimizes sensations of unsteadiness or vertigo while working. Made from lightweight, non-conductive fiberglass, you will be able to get your work done quickly, safely and efficiently.
The ComboSXE meets or exceeds all OSHA, ANSI and CSA standards, and is rated Type IAA to hold 375 lbs. The 13’ model comes with V-bar on the extension side of the ladder that allows you to securely lean your extended ladder against an outside corner.

Size refers to the ANSI definition of length. ANSI states that the size is defined by the combined length of all rail sections, with a tolerance of +/-3” on each section. Note, this does not take into account any overlap between sliding sections like those on an extension or multi-purpose ladder. This can cause a disparity in the size of the ladder versus the actual height. To determine which ladder you need, Little Giant recommends you reference maximum reach height instead of size.
The terminology for ladder duty ratings, grades, and types can sometimes be confusing. The ladder's duty rating is the maximum safe load capacity of that ladder according to ANSI standards. There are 3 types of ratings that Little Giant offers:
Type I - Made to handle everyday projects. Has a load capacity of 250 lbs.
Type IA- Designed with durability and regular use in mind. Has a load capacity of 300 lbs.
Type IAA- Built for professional performance and rugged use. Has a load capacity of 375 lbs.
Ladder specifications can be confusing due to safety regulation requirements. According to ANSI (American National Standards Institute), the ladder size is defined as the total length of each section and does not account for overlap on extension ladders. As a result, the overlapping sections reduce the total length of the ladder. When purchasing any ladder customers should pay particular attention to the maximum reach to ensure the correct product for the job.
