We are a low voltage contractor in Oklahoma, Installing phone systems, computer networks, cctv camera systems, access control, security systems, commercial fire alarms, etc.
We are constantly pulling wire and installing equipment in a wide variety of applications and situations, and have found the King Kombo 2.0 ladder to be not only a very versatile piece of equipment but also a very sturdy and lightweight ladder capable of getting our techs just about anywhere that they need to get, ... safely.
Having a ladder that is OSHA approved to lean against a wall is also a huge benefit in our line of work, as sometimes there just isn't room to open up an A frame ladder to gain access to where you need to be, and with most ladders that would involve an OSHA safety violation, but this ladder solves that issue and provides a safe solution to the problem. Also, being able to extend the ladder out to an "extension ladder" saves having to carry multiple ladders to the jobsite for most of our jobs.
I have found the King Kombo 1.0 ladder to be lacking in the stability of the hinge point, however, the King Kombo 2.0 ladder has addressed this issue, replacing the hinge release and locking mechanism with a much sturdier design that has a positive locking mechanism and does not drift like the older version tends to after being used for awhile. It is also more convenient requiring only one free hand to release the hinge point, fold, and carry the ladder on to the next work area.
I just got this beauty and have used it for a couple of jobs. This is the future of step ladders. So many killer features. Also I thought the ground cue feature was hokey, but the more I use it the more it makes sense. I started getting used to the “click? before I stepped of
Size refers to the ANSI definition of length. ANSI states that the size is defined by the combined length of all rail sections, with a tolerance of +/-3” on each section. Note, this does not take into account any overlap between sliding sections like those on an extension or multi-purpose ladder. This can cause a disparity in the size of the ladder versus the actual height. To determine which ladder you need, Little Giant recommends you reference maximum reach height instead of size.
The terminology for ladder duty ratings, grades, and types can sometimes be confusing. The ladder's duty rating is the maximum safe load capacity of that ladder according to ANSI standards. There are 3 types of ratings that Little Giant offers:
Type I - Made to handle everyday projects. Has a load capacity of 250 lbs.
Type IA- Designed with durability and regular use in mind. Has a load capacity of 300 lbs.
Type IAA- Built for professional performance and rugged use. Has a load capacity of 375 lbs.
Ladder specifications can be confusing due to safety regulation requirements. According to ANSI (American National Standards Institute), the ladder size is defined as the total length of each section and does not account for overlap on extension ladders. As a result, the overlapping sections reduce the total length of the ladder. When purchasing any ladder customers should pay particular attention to the maximum reach to ensure the correct product for the job.
